Donations for the month of November, 2007:
Who will be the first to contact me with news of their donations of time, money or items? Your generosity will be displayed here for the world to see.
Send your donation (see below) or call your local Domestic Violence Intervention Program to see how you can help!
Domestic Violence touches us all. Whether you are aware or not, you already know at least one woman who is in an abusive relationship. Do you contribute to the abuse by blaming her if she stays there? Do you contribute to the abuse by overlooking it all and making excuses for what you see and hear? Wouldn't you rather be like the thousands of others who have taken a stand against the meaningless violence and bloodshed? Wouldn't you rather make a difference?
Call your local shelter or crisis hotline and ask how you can help. Make a donation of money, clothing, personal items or toys for the kids. Don't look the other way. Don't deny that it's happening right in front of you. Do something now. You might just save a life. Like mine.
Every 8 seconds a woman is
battered. Every day 3 women lose their lives. Children see and hear everything,
even when Mommy is murdered. But there is help. Thanks to the phone volunteers,
police officers, shelter workers, and counselors for working so hard to help
victims of domestic violence not only survive the moment, but become survivors
for a lifetime. I am proud to count myself among those
survivors.
